The "community" is considered anyone faculty encounters whether internal or external to the College of Nursing (students, colleagues, external partners, etc.).

1-5. Nursing Program Accreditation

1-6. Board of Nursing Approval
Because SDSU has a long standing history of national accreditation with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the education programs are exempt from state board review pursuant to ARSD 20:48:07:48. Programs that hold accreditation status from a national nursing accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education are exempt from 20:48:07:41 for the purpose of maintaining on-going full board of nursing approval status.

1-7. American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and National League for Nursing (NLN) Membership
The South Dakota State University College of Nursing is an institutional member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). This membership allows all faculty access to cutting edge professional development opportunities, which are available online and through annual conferences. Membership in AACN provides leadership development opportunities for faculty and students. The organization leads advocacy efforts for nursing education and nursing research on Capitol Hill. The benefits of AACN membership are further described on AACN.
The South Dakota State University College of Nursing is an institutional member of the National League for Nursing organization. This membership allows all faculty access to cutting edge professional development opportunities. The benefits of NLN membership are further described on NLN. South Dakota State University College of Nursing is also a 2022 NLN Center of Excellence, awarded through 2026.
