Application requirements

The Department of Graduate Nursing offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing. The student may choose from the following specializations:

  • Health Promotion/Disease Prevention in Underserved and Rural populations
  • Health Outcomes
  • Nursing Education

Course Delivery Methods

All emphases are available on a part time basis (the length of which is determined on an individual basis). Nursing courses are delivered face-to-face utilizing videoconferencing technology and also web-based instruction. Course schedule will include fall, spring and summer requirements.

Option 1: 60-credit Ph.D.

for applicants with a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field

Option 2: 90-credit Ph.D.

for applicants with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
