Tim Hansen, the Harold C. Hohbach Endowed Associate Professor in South Dakota State University’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, has been selected to help lead a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize how power systems interact and adapt in an increasingly renewable energy-rich landscape.

South Dakota State University students are participating in a new program designed to prepare them for their careers while marketing the Brookings community as a place to live and work beyond graduation. The SDSU Office of Career Development and the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce developed a free, four-session “Work Ready Bootcamp” to provide real-world training and encourage SDSU students to pursue careers in the Brookings community.
Postpartum depression affects 15% of all childbearing women, and up to 10% will experience depression or anxiety during pregnancy.
Those numbers make it a rather common experience, yet the conditions remain a stigma for many, according to Stephanie Hanson, who is organizing Public Health Day presentations at South Dakota State University to raise awareness and offer hope to those who have experienced postpartum depression.
The free presentations are April 2 and include a lunch hour message by Hanson as well as a keynote address by a leading authority for postpartum mental health. In the evening, there will be a screening of a documentary followed by a panel discussion.
The South Dakota Art Museum at South Dakota State University will open its newest exhibition, “Termespheres: Without Beginning or End,” with a free public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Artist Dick Termes will speak at 6 p.m., discussing the spherical paintings in this exhibition, known as Termespheres, and his process for creating them.
The South Dakota State University Concert Choir, under the direction of Laura Diddle and guest conductor Phillip Swan, will present a spring choral concert, “Untraveled Worlds,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
A new faculty member in South Dakota State University's College of Nursing, Brittany Brennan, is working to move the field of simulation education forward with a project for the International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Learning to update the simulation facilitation standards.
Joseph Daly, a music education major at South Dakota State University, will present his senior recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the SDSU campus.
