Cadence Helleson, a music studies major at South Dakota State University, will present her senior recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall on the SDSU campus.
Helleson, from Sioux Falls, will play the saxophone, flute and clarinet. She will be joined by Xuan Kuang on the piano, and her recital features Matthew Dulas and Jacob Pfeifer in the piece “Half-Cooked Spaghetti.”
Works to be performed also include selections from “Concertino da Camera” by Jacques Ibert, “Danse de la Chevre” by Arthur Honegger, “Double Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Euphonium” by Anthony O’Toole, “Sonatina for Clarinet” by Joseph Horovitz and “Histoire du Tango” by Astor Piazzolla.
Helleson has been involved in SDSU’s Wind Symphony, Concert Band, Jazz Band, The Pride of the Dakotas Marching Band, Saxophone Quartet, Pep Band, Woodwind Quintet, Windy Jacks and Saxophone Ensemble.
