Governor to address vets, SDSU cadets

Gov. Kristi Noem will be on the South Dakota State University campus April 13 to honor all veterans and recognize the achievements of the Army and Air Force ROTC cadets.

Governor’s Day will be observed at 11 a.m. in the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Center. In addition to Noem’s message, SDSU President Barry Dunn also will speak.

Among the awards being presented are the Governor’s Cup, which goes to the top cadet with the hosting unit, which is the Air Force this year, and the President’s Cup, which will go to the top cadet in the Army this year.

Governor’s Day dates to 1918, when Peter Norbeck was governor and Gen. Omar Bradley was professor of military science.

Following talks, 41 Army and 32 Air Force ROTC cadets will pass before the governor, Dunn and unit commanders.
