Prairie Repertory Theatre opens its 50th season June 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and June 12 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged).” The productions will be in person in the Oscar Larson Theatre in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.
Three madcap men in tights weave their way through all 37 of Shakespeare comedies, histories and tragedies in one wild 97-minute ride as this fast-paced presentation was London’s longest-running comedy performing from 1996-2005.
“Prairie Repertory Theatre is excited to return to in-person performances, particularly after losing last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said SDSU Professor and PRT Managing/Artistic Director J.D. Ackman. “We look forward to having an audience in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center and another great season.”
Ackman will direct the cast of three that includes Bradley Herrmann (Sioux Falls), Braden Paulsen (Brandon) and Skyllar Shoening (Roseau, Minnesota).
Designers include SDSU Professor Corey Shelsta, scenic design; Kelsey Werpy (Brookings), stage manager; Shannin Ashmore (Sioux City, Iowa), costume design; Betsey Williams (Emporia, Kansas), lighting design; Emma Kruger (Madison), sound design; Abby Solvie (Morris, Minnesota), prop master and Jaron Sagmoe (Sioux Falls), master carpenter.
