At this time, South Dakota State University will be open Friday and classes will occur as scheduled. Students are encouraged to stay on campus until weather and driving conditions improve.
Brookings County remains in a blizzard warning until 6 p.m. Friday. The National Weather Service predicts snow accumulations to be between 3 and 7 total inches with winds gusting up to 60 mph. Whiteout conditions are likely and travel will be extremely dangerous and not recommended.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, monitor road and weather conditions and adjust your trip accordingly. Please contact others to let them know you will be on the road and have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.

Per SDBOR policy 4:40, employees who do not report to work or wish to leave early have the option of taking annual leave, accrued compensatory time, leave without pay or adjusting the workweek. Supervisory approval is required for any of the options. Employees who feel they cannot safely reach the worksite shall take appropriate action to notify their supervisor that they will be absent from work.
