South Dakota State University Selects CLC for Trademark Licensing Partnership

South Dakota State University has signed an agreement with CLC, the nation’s leading collegiate trademark licensing agency, to represent the university’s brand licensing program beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

The SDSU licensing program will be able to leverage CLC’s long-standing retail relationships for increased product placement, participate in national and local consumer marketing programs and receive unmatched sales and market data to help the university make informed decisions about the best licensing partners for future growth and product development.

“The brand associated with South Dakota State University has become more and more recognizable, not only in our region, but also throughout the country,” said Derek Peterson, SDSU’s assistant vice president of business services. “Partnering with someone like CLC gives us an opportunity to take what is already a strong brand and elevate it through better engagement with vendors and fans, innovative marketing initiatives and by having access to data and systems designed to more strategically mange our trademarks and licensing program. We are very excited about this opportunity.”

SDSU managed an independent trademark licensing program before signing an agreement with CLC to serve as the university’s licensing agent.

SDSU joins eight other Summit League member institutions and nine other Missouri Valley Football Conference institutions that currently work with CLC for collegiate licensing services.
