Jim Meisenheimer May 2019 Employee of the Month

Jim Meisenheimer has been named South Dakota State University’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for May. Meisenheimer, a Facilities and Services custodian, will be honored at 10 p.m. Thursday in room A of the Bailey Rotunda.

“Jim has dedicated 25 years to custodial services here at SDSU. He is always willing to assist or give advice from his experience. Jim is always smiling and ready for whatever the nightshift gives him,” said Lisa Vandekieft, a custodial services supervisor in Facilities and Services.

Meisenheimer and his wife, Cindy, live on an acreage near Elkton. They raise various animals ranging from goats to peacocks and llamas.

“Jim is a great part of our team. He brings strong teamwork and an open mind to a diverse team. He comes to work with a positive attitude and makes people around him better. A 25-year employee, I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this great award,” said Todd Wixon, a custodial services supervisor in Facilities and Services.

“Jim Meisenheimer has dedicated 25 years in keeping SDSU clean. He has seen a lot of changes across campus and has adjusted accordingly. He works the overnight shift which takes a very special person to be able to do day after day,” said Troy Syhre, director of custodial services. “Jim also had to learn the new electronic world that has come upon us in our operations. I feel Jim has earned employee of the month for being steadfast and true to this university, taking pride all along the way. Jim would do anything for anyone, he is a great guy and I want to thank him for his time here and true dedication.”

Meisenheimer said he is honored to receive the award and is proud to have made a career at South Dakota State.

All SDSU Employee of the Month selections are determined through a nomination process by the Civil Service Advisory Council. Each civil service employee of the month receives an appreciation monetary gift from the F.O. Butler Foundation. The trustees of the foundation recognize the importance of civil service employees and take this opportunity to thank them for their exemplary service.
