NOTE: Marks' appearances have changed due to weather.
South Dakota State University’s School of Design will host Mike Marks as the studio art juror for the 2019 Student Juried Exhibit, held annually in Grove Hall’s Ritz Gallery. Marks’ prints and drawings have shown both nationally and internationally.
Marks will deliver a public lecture at 6:30 p.m. April 15 in the South Dakota Art Museum’s auditorium. Marks' lecture was moved from April 10 to April 15 due to the weather conditions. He will visit with printmaking and drawing classes April 15-16. When visiting classes, Marks will demonstrate the collagraph printmaking technique, discuss his work and critique advanced printmaking works.
Marks’ visit, which is part of the Van Zante Visiting Artist series, is sponsored by the Helen J. Van Zante Endowment and the School of Design.
He has been an artist-in-residence at the Tides Institute & Museum of Art, Stone Trigger Press, Crooked Tree Art Center and Acadia National Park. Marks holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing from the Cleveland Institute of Art and a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Delaware.
