The South Dakota State University Police Department will hold an active threat training session Wednesday night in the Architecture, Mathematics and Engineering Building and Solberg Hall.
The training is scheduled to run from 5:30 p.m. to midnight and includes law enforcement personnel from the Brookings Police Department, the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
UPD has been conducting active threat response trainings on campus since 2011. In addition, UPD attends or assists instructing active threat response trainings held in the city and county of Brookings several times each year.
As with previous trainings, expect to see numerous law enforcement personnel on campus. Signs will be posted that a training session is taking place.
UPD is the only university police department in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming to have earned accreditation by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
