APLU honors Uilk for teaching excellence
Nicholas Uilk, an instructor in South Dakota State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, has been named a recipient of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities national teaching awards in recognizing excellence in agricultural sciences teaching and student engagement.
Researchers developing sensor to quickly detect viral DNA
Gu and his team are making a biosensor that detects DNA segments in animal and environmental samples within a few hours. To do this, Gu is working with virologist Feng Li, a professor in the Department of Biology and Microbiology, as well as Assistant Professors John McMaine and Rachel McDaniel of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

The CHS Foundation, funded by charitable gifts from CHS Inc., announced today a $1.5 million grant to support the South Dakota State University precision agriculture program and construction of the new Raven Precision Agriculture Center on campus.

South Dakota State University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Raven Precision Agriculture Center on the SDSU campus in Brookings on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m. Following the event, SDSU hosted the first-ever Precision Agriculture Bowl football game vs. Indiana State to celebrate the occasion.
