SDSU repeats as quarter-scale tractor champion
South Dakota State University has pulled out another national championship—this one in the field of quarter-scale tractors. While the football team grabbed a lot of attention with its first-ever Football Championship Series national title in January, the students on the quarter-scale tractor team brought home national honors for the second year in a row and third time in the past five years.

Problem-solving projects to be featured at SDSU’s Engineering Expo
South Dakota State University’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering invites the public to the Raven Precision Agriculture Center on campus to view engineering students’ problem-solving ideas. The senior design projects at this year’s event come from students within five of the engineering college’s majors: mechanical, electrical, civil, agricultural and biosystems engineering and computer science.

APLU honors Uilk for teaching excellence
Nicholas Uilk, an instructor in South Dakota State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, has been named a recipient of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities national teaching awards in recognizing excellence in agricultural sciences teaching and student engagement.
Researchers developing sensor to quickly detect viral DNA
Gu and his team are making a biosensor that detects DNA segments in animal and environmental samples within a few hours. To do this, Gu is working with virologist Feng Li, a professor in the Department of Biology and Microbiology, as well as Assistant Professors John McMaine and Rachel McDaniel of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
CHS Foundation Announces $1.5 Million Gift to Support SDSU Precision Agriculture Program
The CHS Foundation, funded by charitable gifts from CHS Inc., announced today a $1.5 million grant to support the South Dakota State University precision agriculture program and construction of the new Raven Precision Agriculture Center on campus.
