Recently, researchers at South Dakota State University took an in-depth look at the School of Design’s AiR program to learn what impact it may have on the creative behaviors of art and STEM major students.

Vincent receives Carol Hepper Foundation Award
South Dakota State University junior Savanna Vincent has received the 2023 Carol Hepper Award in studio art. Vincent is a studio art major specializing in printmaking and ceramics with a certificate in art history. Hepper was a 1975 SDSU graduate born in McLaughlin.
SDSU celebrates patent, program that encourages innovation
South Dakota State University’s Rich Normality Design Collaborative (RNDC), a multiprogram collaboration at the university, celebrated a patent-signing event on campus April 19. The patent was issued in April 2022 for a connector device that promotes children’s building skills, and the event was used to highlight RNDC’s evolution at State and how the initiative helps build a pipeline of creative and innovative thinkers.
Simon’s art a testimony to braving the storm
Dr. Lynn Sargeant has been working on updating the art in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences office. Located on her back wall are two new pieces of art, creating an eye-catching backdrop to the many Zoom meetings she holds and an opportunity to highlight the work of students in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. These pieces of art were created by Alison Simon, a fifth-year senior in the School of Design, the School of Communication and Journalism and the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences.
South Dakota Governor’s 8th Biennial Art Exhibition opens at South Dakota Art Museum
The South Dakota Art Museum hosts the South Dakota Governor’s 8th Biennial Art Exhibition, featuring works from 64 South Dakota artists, Jan. 25 to April 20. The showing, the first of four statewide, represents all regions of the state and a wide variety of art forms.
