CAFES Prexy Council Selects Lora Berg as Inaugural CAFES Club Advisor of the Year
The South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) Prexy Council selected Lora Berg as the inaugural CAFES Club Advisor of the Year award recipient. The award was added to the 2023 slate of awards to showcase the work and time that club advisors put in outside of work hours to support and enhance student activities. A committee of CAFES students evaluated all club nominations based on advisor responsibilities, passion for the organization, impact on students and more.
Six student speakers to be featured at SDSU commencement
Six South Dakota State University soon-to-be or recent graduates will be featured speakers at the university's 137th commencement May 6 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings.
Dairy science students awarded scholarships
Four South Dakota State University student researchers have been awarded scholarships for their outstanding work. Honored were graduate research assistants Sheetal Jha, Kritikia Gaba, Bhaswati Chowdhury, and Rutvi Jitendarkumar Joshi.
Robert Thaler Named 2023 SDSU CAFES Teacher of the Year
Every year, a committee of students in the South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) is tasked with selecting an outstanding teacher they feel has gone above and beyond in their role as an educator. Students and clubs within the college have the opportunity to nominate a CAFES teacher to receive the title of CAFES Teacher of the Year. This year’s recipient is Dr. Robert Thaler, Distinguished Professor and interim head of the Department of Animal Science.
South Dakota State to celebrate 100,000 alumni
South Dakota State University will reach the milestone of 100,000 graduates as the university hosts its 137th commencement May 6 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. Moving graduation ceremonies from campus for the first time ever for the Class of 2023 is due to the construction in Frost Arena as that facility continues its transformation into First Bank & Trust Arena during the next 18 months.
Haarberg 3D Center announces pilot grant awards
South Dakota State University's Haarberg Center for Drug, Disease and Delivery, housed in the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, has announced its second round of funding for research projects through the Haarberg 3D Center's Pilot Grant Program.
SDSU faculty recognized for excellence
The annual South Dakota State University Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized 25 faculty members, researchers and scientists Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.
