Spencer Jacobson Selected as 2023 Friend of the Department of Animal Science
Animal science alum Spencer Jacobson has supported the South Dakota State University Department of Animal Science ever since he graduated from SDSU in 1995. Recently, he was recognized for his ongoing support by being selected as the 2023 Friend of the Department of Animal Science. Currently, Jacobson resides in Brandon with his wife and three daughters and works at Smithfield Foods in Sioux Falls as the hog procurement business manager.
Anastasia Poull Named 2023 Outstanding Student in Animal Science
Anastasia Poull, a 2023 South Dakota State University animal science, agricultural leadership, and agricultural science graduate, was recently selected as the 2023 Outstanding Student in Animal Science.

SDSU Students Study Abroad in South Africa
A group of South Dakota State University students spent their spring break studying abroad in South Africa March 10-20. The group was made up of students representing a wide variety of academic programs across campus such as animal science, agricultural science, biotechnology, agriculture communications and nursing.

Tessa Erdmann Announced as the 2023-2024 South Dakota State University CAFES Advocate
The South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) student body has voted in Tessa Erdmann, an agricultural communications student from Groton to serve as the 2023-2024 CAFES Advocate on the college’s Prexy Council Executive team. The position is the only position voted on by the entire CAFES student body and serves as the voice for all students within Prexy Council.
SDSU Swine Club Named 2023 CAFES Club of the Year
The South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences (CAFES) Prexy Council has named Swine Club the 2023 Club of the Year. Each year, a committee organized by Prexy Council selects an organization that makes a positive impact on the SDSU campus and exceeds expectations in supporting its members and contributing to the community.
