Our outdoor trips and clinics are led by outdoor professional staff and encompass a wide range of activities from hiking, to canoeing, to rock climbing, and more. These activities are taught in exciting and diverse locations ranging from hidden gems in Eastern South Dakota, to the Badlands and Black Hills of Western South Dakota, and beyond.
Outdoor Programs hosts a variety of clinics throughout the semester that provides an introduction to various types of outdoor activities from paddle to snow sports and much more!
Join the Wellness Center Outdoor Program and SD Game, Fish & Parks for some fishing at the Dakota Nature Park! This free event is open to all ages and will take place from 10am-12pm. All equipment generously provided by Game, Fish & Parks. Fishing licenses not required to participate, however, preregistration for this event is required.
In partnership with South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks, learn the basics of becoming an archer using a compound bow. Topics covered include parts of a bow, maintenance, range safety, and proper shooting technique. You will then get to practice your marksmanship on 3D targets! This event is free to attend. Pre-registration is required.
Join us for a bike ride around Brookings on Saturday, October 2nd, at 1:30pm. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the Wellness Center free of charge! No pre-registration required if providing own bike. Simply meet us by the north side of the Wellness Center on the 2nd.
