Trips and Clinics

Ready for an adventure? Check out SDSU's Outdoor Programs for the experience of a lifetime!

Our outdoor trips and clinics are led by outdoor professional staff and encompass a wide range of activities from hiking, to canoeing, to rock climbing, and more. These activities are taught in exciting and diverse locations ranging from hidden gems in Eastern South Dakota, to the Badlands and Black Hills of Western South Dakota, and beyond.

    Clinics - Spring 2021

    Outdoor Programs hosts a variety of clinics throughout the semester that provides an introduction to various types of outdoor activities from paddle to snow sports and much more!

    Fall Clinics Dates:

    Saturday, February 27 - Ice Fishing!

    *Due to forecasted cold weather conditions on February 13, Ice Fishing was moved to February 27*

    Meet us at the Dakota Nature Park on February 27 from 9-11 a.m. to experience the fun of ice fishing! Equipment and instruction will be provided by SD Game, Fish and Parks. Be sure to dress warm!

    Registration is required, but it is FREE.

    Saturday, February 27 - Cross-Country Skiing!


    Unfortunately, do to the warm temperatures melting snow our Cross-Country Skiing Clinic has been canceled.

    Wednesday, March 18 - Archery!

    Join us at the Wellness Center on March 18 at 5 p.m. to learn the basics of archery! Instruction and equipment will be provided by the SD Game, Fish and Parks Department. Registered participants will meet at the Wellness Center and as the program will be help on one of our courts.

    Registration is required, but it is FREE to students and members. Registrations opens on February 16.

    Trips - Spring 2021

    • Included in the trip fees are travel to and from the site, all group gear, all activity gear and some meals. 
    • All trips are designed to be appropriate for beginner to intermediate skill levels.
    • All trips meet at, and depart from, the Miller Wellness Center.
    • Trip departure time is dependent on the activity, activity location and other variables.
    • More information will be shared at each pre-trip meeting the week of the trip.

    *Unfortunately, no Spring trips are currently being programmed.
