I like math but I'm not sure I want to teach. Should I still be a math major?

With a 96% placement rate based on 326 graduates since 2008, and recent graduates working in careers that are nationally-top-rated year after year after year, the SDSU Math/Stat Department is among the very best at preparing students for the very best careers. Our graduates find great careers in business, industry, research, government, and teaching, working in areas such as finance, social media, manufacturing, health care, public policy formulation, national security, and many others.

And here's one more word to the wise: even if you're not sure you want to teach, don't write it off as a career choice. Teaching mathematics is one of the most rewarding careers imaginable, and is an area of critical need for our nation today. The SDSU Math/Stat Department has a strong Mathematics Education Specialization, the graduates of which are consistently in high demand year after year.
