This is the place where our students get top quality education, our faculty innovates through world-class research and scholarship, and our staff provide dedicated support to our faculty and students to ensure their success. You can also enhance your degree with many options for real-life work experience right here in Brookings or nearby. Most of our students complete part-time work in their major before graduation at nearby engineering/manufacturing companies who are eager to hire our students and graduates.

McComishes create first endowed department at SDSU

A Montana couple has endowed The McComish Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at South Dakota State University. The $5 million gift results in the university’s first endowed and named department, representing an exceptional and lasting investment.

SDSU a NASA finalist … again! Engineering students develop design for crater-exploring rover

Please provide a story summary.Building on the tradition of past student entries in NASA contests, another group of South Dakota State University engineering students has advanced to the finals of a NASA contest. This year’s group of five mechanical engineering students will appear before NASA judges to present their idea and prototype of a rover that can explore rugged and permanently shadowed lunar south pole craters searching for water, ice and other volatiles. They are one of 14 teams nationwide that will be in Cocoa Beach, Florida, June 10-12.

Engineering Expo to feature student projects

South Dakota State University’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering invites the public to the Raven Precision Agriculture Center to view engineering students’ innovative project designs. The public is welcome to attend Tuesday, April 23, from 9-10 a.m. and noon-3 p.m. with an award ceremony to follow. This event features 39 teams presenting their senior design projects.
