I have been exposed to COVID-19 but have previously tested positive for COVID-19.

To date, reinfection appears to be uncommon during the initial 90 days after symptom onset, but its not impossible. As a result, Individuals who have a confirmed case of COVID-19 do not need to quarantine due to close contact exposure, in the 90 days after symptom onset (or 90 days after the positive test for asymptomatic individuals). CDC 2020

The SD-DOH has added a calculator to their webpage to assist in the 90-day calculation of when you must resume quarantining.

If you develop new COVID-19 related symptoms, even within your 90-day period, please follow instructions for “I am experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.”

If you have been exposed to COVID-19 after your 90-day period, please follow the instructions for “I have been exposed to COVID-19.”
