Printing Services Reopening Plan

JacksRBack Plan for Printing Services

This plan is grounded in the SDSU Guiding Principles for Return to Campus and SDSU COVID-19 Protocols.

  1. SDSU Phase Red: High Risk for Everyone, Potential Community Considerations-- increasing statewide running average for the rate of hospital admissions and/or potential for overwhelmed health system or designated by state government leaders of President of the University.
    1. Engineering Controls
      1. Close shop to customers.
      2. Customer Pickup
        1. Plexiglas barrier will be at pickup location.
        2. Hand sanitizer station provided at pickup counter.
        3. Disinfect pickup counter after every customer transaction.
    2. Administrative Controls
      1. Staffing
        1. Nonessential staff work remotely
        2. Essential staff report to work locations
          1. Individuals are required to follow the current University and SDBOR face covering protocols.
          2. The following items will be provided for the employees during their shift.
            1. Sanitizing wipes
            2. Disinfectant Cleaner and rags
            3. Standing hand sanitizer dispenser
      2. Communications
        1. Forward the store phone to the Director.
        2. Work with EMT to notify campus community of closure through appropriate channels.
        3. Customers needing essential materials will need to schedule time for pick up.
      3. Operations
        1. Only essential projects approved by associated Vice Presidents will be produced.
        2. Only schedule production employees into facility when project requires area to be operational.
        3. Project files delivered from department to Printing Services via Box
        4. Client planning meetings will be held via Zoom sessions.
        5. Digital proofs will be promoted.
        6. Hard copy proof approvals available to be handed off via schedule appointment.
        7. Printing Services will notify client upon project completion to schedule time and location for pickup.
      4. Production
        1. Maximum of one production person at a workstation at a time.
        2. Stickers will be placed on the floor to remind people of the 6-foot social distancing guidelines.
        3. Face covers and face shields will be worn when working inside of 6-feet is deemed necessary.
        4. Cleaning cloths, isopropyl alcohol at workstations to clean before and after use.
        5. No outside staff will be allowed in the production area.
        6. Internal press checks will be kept to a minimum.
        7. Internal planning meetings will be held with social distancing measures in place.
  2. SDSU Phase Orange: Moderate Risk for Everyone but High Risk Individuals—running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions does not increase over a 14-day period, local hospital is safely able to treat all patients state is able to test all people with COVID-19 symptoms, state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and their contacts or designated by the state government leaders of the President of the University.
    1. Engineering Controls:
      1. Capacity Limits
        1. 3 customers at front customer service area.
        2. 2 customers within proof approval area.
      2. Entrance\Exit Procedures
        1. Entrance through main south vestibule doors.
        2. Exit through east facing loading dock.
          1. ADA customers will need to exit through main entrance.
        3. Standing signage and stanchions will guide visitors to the front desk, proofing area and exit.
        4. Hand sanitizer station provided at front entrance
      3. Signage:
        1. A 24 x36” poster in front office displays COVID-19 Reduced Occupancy Load
        2. Signs in common area displaying the load limit for the immediate area.
        3. Reference sheet from CDC with risk or feeling of illness posted at the counter.
      4. Customer Service
        1. Maximum of one staff member allowed at customer service counter.
        2. Plexiglas barrier installed at front counter.
        3. Stickers will be placed on floor to remind people of the 6-foot social distancing guidelines.
        4. Cleaning cloths, isopropyl alcohol at desk to clean Point of Sale and counter between sales.
        5. Printing Services staff will sign receipts for customers.
        6. Promote the use of MyJacks cards and INDEX numbers to avoid cash transactions.
        7. MyJacks card terminal is setup for tap tender.
        8. Hand sanitizer is available to customer at the counter.
    2. Administrative Controls:
      1. Training
        1. Provide training to staff on:
        2. Best practice to reduce the spread of COVID-19
        3. Handwashing
        4. Symptoms of COVID-19 and how to self-monitor
        5. Cleaning and Disinfecting
        6. Social Distancing
        7. Proper use of face covers

        9. Safe work practices

        1. Individuals are required to follow the current University and SDBOR face covering protocols.

          1. Self-print will not be offered.
          2. No print while you wait services offered.
          3. Project files delivered from department to Printing Services via Box or email.
          4. Digital proofs will be promoted.
          5. Communications\Meetings between department creative and Printing Services via Zoom or a phone call.
          6. Hard copy proof approvals will be delivered to department.
          7. Printing Services will notify client upon project completion to schedule time and location for delivery or pickup.
        2. Student Projects

SDSU Phase Yellow: Low Risk for Everyone but High Risk Individuals- Potential Community Considerations -running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions consistently decreases over a 14-day period, local hospital and healthcare capacity is sufficient to meet demands, state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and contact tracing, state is gradually easing physical distancing restrictions to allow for monitoring at each step or designated by state government leaders or President of University.
    1. Engineering Controls:
      1. Capacity limits
        1. 3 customers at front customer service area.
        2. 2 customers within proof approval area.
        3. 3 customers in self-service production area.
      2. Entrance Procedures
        1. Encourage use of ADA actuator for door opening.
        2. Keep inside vestibule door propped open to reduce number of touchpoints.
        3. Standing signage and stanchions will guide visitors to the front desk and out the side door.
        4. Plexiglas barrier installed at front desk (only one staff member will be stationed at the counter at a time).
        5. Cleaning cloths, isopropyl alcohol at counter to clean Point of Sale and use on phone.
        6. Pens: We will sign receipts for customers and give them a receipt so they will not have to use our pens.
        7. We will promote the use of MyJacks cards and Index numbers. Will allow cash transactions.
        8. Hand sanitizer is available at the counter and on the wall in all areas.
