This plan is grounded in the SDSU Guiding Principles for Return to Campus and SDSU COVID-19 Protocols.

  1. SDSU Phase Red: High Risk for Everyone Potential Community Considerations—increasing statewide running average for the rate of hospital admissions and/or potential for overwhelmed health system or designated by state government leaders or president of South Dakota State University.
    1. Engineering Controls
      1. Close office to campus staff, faculty and students.
      2. Hobo Dough deposits are accepted online.
      3. Student, staff and faculty photos can be submitted online.
      4. Students will be encouraged to download their ID to their phone.
      5. IDs that need to be printed can be taken to UPD for pickup.
    2. Administrative Controls
      1. Staffing
        1. Nonessential staff work remotely
          1. Staff can take technology and other resources home that enable them to successfully telecommute.
        2. Essential staff report to work locations
          1. Individuals are required to follow the current South Dakota State University and SDBOR face covering protocols.
          2. Limit staffing on-site.
          3. Staff working remotely will focus on answering and responding to email and other work-related duties.
          4. The following items will be provided for the employees during their shift:
            1. Sanitizing wipes;
            2. Disinfectant cleaner (Provided by Facilities and Services); and
            3. Standing hand sanitizer dispenser outside the front door.
      2. Communications
        1. Card Services office phone can be answered by on-site personally or if a voicemail is left, answered by remote person via email. Emails can also be sent to the SDSU.Cardoffice@sdstate.edu account.
        2. Campus staff needing essential service will need to schedule a time for an appointment.
      3. ID Cards and Hobo Dough deposits when online is not possible
        1. Plexiglas barriers were installed.
        2. Disinfect the counter after every customer transaction.
      4. Hours of Operation
        1. Office hours Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.
        2. Access by appointment only.
  2. SDSU Phase Orange: Moderate Risk for Everyone but High-Risk Individuals—running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions does not increase over a 14-day period, local hospital is safely able to treat all patients, state is able to test all people with COVID-19 symptoms, state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and their contacts or designated by state government leaders or the president of South Dakota State University.
    1. Engineering Controls
      1. Capacity Limits
        1. Card Services office restricted to scheduled appointments with two customers for a five-minute time slot to allow for social distancing and not exceed capacity.
      2. Entrance Procedures
        1. Specific incoming and outgoing traffic lanes for one-way traffic is in place.
        2. Signage will guide students, faculty and staff.
        3. Hand sanitizer station provided at front entrance.
      3. Campus ID cards and Hobo Dough deposits
        1. Maximum of two staff members will be allowed in front area of Card Services.
        2. Students will be encouraged to download their ID to their phone.
        3. Website has been updated to encourage online deposits.
        4. Add signage outside Card Services office to encourage students to email questions.
        5. Plexiglas barriers were installed.
        6. Stickers will be placed on floor to remind people of the 6-foot social distancing guidelines. 
        7. Disinfect the front counter after every customer transaction.
        8. Checks and cash will be accepted.
        9. Reference sheet from CDC with risks or feeling of illness will be posted.
    2. Administrative Controls
      1. Training
        1. Provide training to staff on:
          1. Best practice to reduce the spread of COVID-19,
          2. Hand-washing,
          3. Symptoms of COVID-19 and how-to self-monitor,
          4. Cleaning and disinfecting,
          5. Social distancing,
          6. Use of face covers, and
          7. Safe work practices.
      2. Staffing
        1. Individuals are required to follow the current South Dakota State University and SDBOR face covering protocols.
        2. The following items will be provided for the employees during their shift:

  3. SDSU Phase Yellow:  Low Risk for Everyone but High-Risk Individuals. Potential Community Considerations—running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions consistently decreases over a 14-day period, local hospital and healthcare capacity is sufficient to meet demands, state is able to test all individuals with COVID-19 symptoms and has expanded to special population testing, state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and contact tracing, state is gradually easing physical distancing restrictions to allow for monitoring at each step or designated by state government leaders or president of South Dakota State University.
