  • SDSU Phase Red: High Risk for Everyone, Potential Community Considerations—increasing statewide running average for the rate of hospital admissions and/or potential for overwhelmed health system or designated by state government leaders or the president of South Dakota State University.
    • Engineering Controls
      • Capacity Limits
        • Building closed to all but essential employees and students approved for emergency housing.
      • Vending Locations
        • Notices placed on machine: “Do not use at this time.”
    • Administrative Controls
      • Vendor will need to work with campus contact to gain access to building to remove products to avoid losses due to expiration dating.
    • Personal Protective Equipment
    • Vendor Controls
      • Encourage employees to self-evaluate before they arrive to work for signs of illness.
      • Require employees who exhibit signs of illness not to report to work and encourage them to seek attention prior to returning.
      • Reporting for any employee testing positive or self-quarantined for COVID-19:
        • Report to Derek Peterson via a phone call to 605-690-4196 and follow with email and
          • Report below information for previous 14-day period
            • Dates on campus,
            • Buildings entered, and
            • Machines serviced.
      • Individuals are required to follow the current South Dakota State University and SDBOR face covering protocols:
        • New, clean gloves should be used at each vending location; and
        • Hand sanitizer must be used before leaving each vending location.
      • Disinfect outside of machine with attention placed on keypad, touchscreen and product pickup area.
      • Disinfect any tools used prior to moving to new location.
      • Log campus visits to include employee, building, machine ID, date and time serviced or stocked.
  • SDSU Phase Orange: Moderate Risk for Everyone but High-Risk Individuals—running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions does not increase over a 14-day period; local hospital is safely able to treat all patients; state is able to test all people with COVID-19 symptoms; state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and their contacts or designated by state government leaders or the president of South Dakota State University.

        • Campus buildings open only to SDSU employees and students.
      • Vending Locations
        • Hand sanitizer dispensers located on wall adjacent to vending installations.
        • Adjust seating in areas to reflect campus social distancing standards.
          • Placement of signage re-enforcing proper social distancing in queuing lines.
    • Administrative Controls
      • Meet with vendor contact:
        • Review campus JacksRBack plan,
        • Review personal protective equipment requirements,
        • Review building access guidelines,
          • Obtain card access for employees, and
        • Review cleaning and disinfecting guidelines.
      • Facilities and Services
        • Daily disinfecting of machine exterior surfaces;
        • Check and refill hand sanitizer dispensers; and
        • Verify seating area spacing according to campus social distancing standards.
    • Personal Protective Equipment
      • Individuals are required to follow the current South Dakota State University and SDBOR face covering protocols.
      • Vendor is required to change gloves and use hand sanitizer between locations.

Potential Community Considerations—running average for the statewide rate of hospital admissions consistently decreases over a 14-day period; local hospital and health care capacity is sufficient to meet demands; state is able to test all individuals with COVID-19 symptoms and has expanded to special population testing; state is able to conduct active monitoring of confirmed cases and contact tracing; state is gradually easing physical distancing restrictions to allow for monitoring at each step or designated by state government leaders or the president of South Dakota State University.
