University Networking and Research Computing (UNRC) within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has a strong commitment to provide faculty, staff and students with a comprehensive infrastructure to achieve higher levels of competitiveness locally, nationally and globally.

The university is connected to the SD REED (Research, Education and Economic Development) network via a 10Gbps connection, providing the campus with connectivity to Internet2, the Great Plains Network and other research networks.Internet1 traffic (or commodity internet), is provided to the campus community at a speed of 2.1 Gbps through a comprehensive wired and wireless infrastructure.  Development of 40Gbps and 100Gbps networks are currently in the planning phases. 

The Networking team develops and maintains the complex network spanning the entire campus and remote sites throughout the State of South Dakota. 

The Research Computing team serves the faculty and staff of SDSU by providing assistance to researchers in engineering, science, and other disciplines that require large scale, computational resources. 

The Server team provides storage area network (SAN) solutions, virtualization services and application support to the faculty, staff and students.
