Ceremony information

Our virtual commencement ceremonies strive to give graduates, families and friends the best graduation experience possible. There are a series of three videos, each one representing the three different commencement ceremonies that were set to take place. Each video will be released approximately 30 minutes prior to the set commencement time. Find the commencement schedule above.

Like SDSU’s traditional commencement ceremonies, each prerecorded ceremony will feature speakers from across campus representing the President’s Office, Academic Affairs, respective colleges, SDSU Alumni Association, South Dakota Board of Regents and more. Student speakers that were nominated and selected to speak at commencement will be featured as well. Each ceremony concludes in approximately two hours.

Each student that completed a graduation application will have their name read in their respective ceremony. We encourage faculty and staff to celebrate commencement. Share your favorite memories of SDSU. Share the commencement videos online for all to see. Use the hashtag #SDState20 on social media, and we will share our favorite posts.

Faculty and staff, set your profile photo on Facebook to congratulate the Class of 2020.

Encourage graduates to set their profile photo filter on Facebook to match the Class of 2020.

We hope to be able to celebrate in person later in 2020 for graduates that choose to participate. Until then, we would like to recognize all of the graduates and their accomplishments at SDSU on their official graduation day, May 9.
