#1 Campanile Avenue Utility, Parking and Site Upgrades

The Campanile Avenue projects includes new underground utilities and site improvements.  This project will begin in the spring of 2020.  All areas will be fully accessible by move-in weekend ahead of the Fall 2020 semester, and final work will be completed in November.  This project includes modifying the roadway and pedestrian pathways throughout this entire corridor.

#2 American Indian Student Center

The American Indian Student Center is a facility that will provide office space, meeting rooms, multi-purpose rooms, technology resources, student support space, and academic support space.  The building will serve the American Indian Student Center program, American Indian students and the greater campus community.  Its primary function will be dedicated to student support programming services.  The AISC building is 11,640 gross square feet and will be completed June 1st, 2020. 

#3 Meadows North and South Exterior Upgrades and HVAC

This project will be removing the exterior steel siding of the Meadows North.  We will be replacing with fiber cement siding with 3” insulation board.  The project also includes some interior ventilation added to each apartment unit along with upgrades to the heating and cooling HVAC systems.  Finally, a new hot water system will be installed.  The interior work is expected to be completed during the summer, with the siding work extending into the school year.

#4 Brookings Municipal Utilities Water Line Replacement

This project is a BMU project that will impact access around campus.  They are upgrading and adding a new water main under 8th Street from Medary to 14th Ave.  This project is expected to be sequenced to maintain access as necessary to Campanile Ave and other critical campus areas, and it will run from May to August. 

#5 Grove Hall Reroof

This project replace the roof system in its entirety during the summer of 2020. The existing roof system will be removed entirely and replaced with enhanced insulation where possible and a new rubber membrane.  The existing roof is more than 25 years old.

#6 Raven Precision Ag

Construction of new facility for Department of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, and Department of Agronomy, Horticulture & Plant Science.  The facility will include classrooms, teaching labs, research labs, mid and high bays, and offices.  Construction completion is June 30, 2021.

#6.1 Raven Precision Ag and Lot 110 Entrance

As part of the construction project, a new drive from Medary Ave will be built to serve parking lots 110 and 111.  This drive will open for public access by August 15, 2020.  This drive will also access the south side of the new facility upon completion.

#6.2 Raven Precision Ag Storm Sewer work

Storm sewer infrastructure to be installed Spring 2020 as part of the construction project.  This work will cross thru several access drives.  Facilities and Services will coordinate road closures with adjacent facilities and affected departments minimize access issues to building and impacts to activities scheduled within.  Progress of this work will be weather dependent.

#7 Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Lab

Renovation of the existing building to transition from a focused lab/research facility to a combined research and teaching facility. Work includes re-facing the exterior, new layouts of existing rooms, new finishes and new equipment.  Completion date: July 2020

#8 University Student Union – Phase II Interior Renovations and Upgrades

The University Student Union will enter into phase 2 of the multiple phased renovation of the building.  The majority of the work on Phase 2 will include new finishes to the conference/meeting rooms that will include carpeting, ceiling, painting, furniture and upgrades to the audio/visual components of the rooms.  The project will also provide improvements to the public lounge areas on the 2nd floor and the Market areas including furniture and lighting.  The work is expected to be started in the summer and completed into the fall semester.
A separate project in the Student Union will include electrical equipment upgrades. This will replace motor-control centers serving the major HVAC equipment in the original parts of the building. 

#9 Rotunda Restroom Upgrades

All restrooms in the Rotunda Classroom Building will be renovated and upgraded to modern standards.  This work will include full demolition and reconstruction of the restrooms. 

#10 Morrill Hall Data Center HVAC Upgrades

Replacement of HVAC systems within the data center.  Installation of equipment will occur between March 2020 and July 2020.

#11 Crothers Engineering Hall Remodels

Project 1: Remodel CEH 108/110 into two mechanical engineering class labs.  Project is under construction to be completed by mid-March.  
Project 2: Remodel CEH 301/303 into the office suite for the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department.  Project to be in construction from March through early summer. 
Project 3: Remove all asbestos containing floor tile from the corridors and 12 offices.  Replace all floor tile in corridors and the 12 offices with new vinyl composition tile.  Project to be in construction from May to August. 

#12 Water-main replacement and site drainage improvements

This work will include replacing the water main through this area and providing site modifications to improve the drainage.  This is the final phase of work in this area associated with the changes to Sexauer Field and placement of the super sidewalk.

#13 Miller Wellness Center Repainting and Lighting Upgrades

The Miller Wellness Center will be completing some maintenance and repair projects.  The major part of the project is to repaint the existing gymnasium/track area from floor to ceiling.  It will also included upgrading all lighting in the area to LED fixtures.  Finally, shades will be added to the south and west window walls.  The project is schedule for this summer with completion before the fall semester.

#14 Mathews Hall Fire Alarm Upgrades

Mathews Hall will be undergoing a fire alarm and detection system replacement project.  This will replace the existing fire alarm system, including a new panel, devices and wiring.  These upgrades are to start the summer of 2020

#15 Binnewies Hall Fire Alarm Upgrades 

Binnewies Hall will be undergoing a fire alarm and detection system replacement project.  This will replace the existing fire alarm system, including a new panel, devices and wiring.  These upgrades are to start the summer of 2020

#16 Stanley Marshall Center – Track Abatement

Remove the existing rubberized track surface.  Seal the floor with a clear-coat sealer.  The existing rubberized track contains mercury and shall be treated as a hazardous material during the removal process.  The project is scheduled for construction in July and August. 

#17 Animal Science Complex – Transformer and Switchgear Replacement

Remove the existing transformer and Switchgear serving the Animal Science Complex. After removal, update the facility power with a new transformer to bring the system up to code and more reliable. This project will include excavation for new underground conductor. A (TBD) pre-arranged outage will be necessary for Animal Science Complex during this project. Completion date: August 2020

#18 Central Chiller Plant – New Chiller Installation/Connection to Wagner and Rotunda

This is the final stages of the larger project that extended new chilled water lines to Wagner/Rotunda and the Barn.  While the excavation and installation of these lines was completed in 2019, the cooling to these buildings will come online this spring.  The final stage of the work will include installation of a new chiller and cooling tower in the Central Heating Plant.  Most remaining work is in mechanical spaces or directly in or around the Central Chiller Plant. 

#19 Park Lot 163 - Overlay

Parking Lot 163 will be undergoing a total mill and overlay with the intention of the project starting the summer of 2020.  This mill and overlay project will also consist of removing the parking lot islands and re-stripping of the lot.

#20 Animal Science Complex – Reroof Phase II (North area)

Replacing the aged roof membrane on the north portion of the Animal Science Complex with a new white EPDM membrane. Completion date: August 2020

#22 Central Heating Plant Re-Roofing
