“Indonesia: A Story Written by the Canting” is a new exhibition, put together by the Department of Consumer Sciences.
The exhibit will display fabrics donated by Elizabeth Berg, wife of Sherwood Berg ’47, who was the South Dakota State University president from 1975 to 1984. She collected a variety of traditional Indonesian batiks when she worked alongside her husband during his time as director of the Indonesia Project of the Midwest University Consortium for International Affairs. They lived in Indonesia during the project.

SDSU Landscape Architecture program and the School of Design will host their annual Martin Maca Lecture Council on Monday, April 24 at 6:00pm in the McCrory Gardens Education and Visitor’s Center. Featured guest speaker John Royster, FASLA, PLA of Big Muddy Workshop in Omaha will also be giving a presentation during the event. Cost is free and open to the general public. Noted cancer research Thomas Gajewski (guy-EV-ski) will discuss how the body’s own immune system can be used to combat cancer when he speaks in Brookings April 24.
“Curing Cancer Through the Immune System” is the message the University of Chicago researcher will deliver at 7 p.m. in the downstairs auditorium of the South Dakota Art Museum on the South Dakota State University campus. It is sponsored by the SDSU College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions and intended for the general public. There is no admission fee.
