“On Capá prieto, Myths of Afro-Puerto Rican women, and Puerto Rican literature”
Yvonne Denis Rosario is a national and international award-winning writer, poet, and narrator. She is professor at the Faculty of General Studies of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where she teaches the celebrated course “Black Women in Puerto Rican Literature”. She holds a Ph.D. in Puerto Rican and Caribbean Literatures and is currently pursuing a M.A. in the field of archeology. Denis Rosario’s work seeks to re-insert the silenced lifework of people of African descent in Puerto Rico into the historiography and sociocultural fabric of the nation. She is known, among others, for the collections of short stories Capá prieto (Isla Negra, 2009) and Sepultados (Buried) published by EDP University Press in 2017.
