Canceled - Speaker Series: Break them or starve them; anything is fair in a war against Salmonella

Dr. Devendra Shah

Event Details

Dr. Devendra Shah is an Associate professor of veterinary microbiology in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology & Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. Over the last 20 years, his research has focused on pheno-genomics of contemporary and archived populations of Salmonella that use wide spectrum of ecological niches including persistence in animal hosts, environment and foods and are transmitted from animals to people via food and other sources. Using Salmonella as a model organism, Dr. Shah’s work attempts to establish genotype-to-phenotype associations as a prelude to provide mechanistic insights into bacterial proteins or pathways implicated in phenotypic traits such as host-association, pathogenesis, drug resistance, and adaptation to stress with the goal to discover targets for the development of new drugs, diagnostic markers, or prophylactics for the control of this public health pathogen.
