Author and marathoner Amby Burfoot will present "First Ladies of Running" at the SDSU Archives in Briggs Library as part of the South Dakota Festival of Books.
In April, Burfoot celebrated the 50th anniversary of his 1968 Boston Marathon win, a race that he has finished 24 times. He has worked as a writer or editor of Runner’s World for 40 years, and has authored or co-authored six books. Burfoot’s most recent book is Run Forever: Your Complete Guide to Healthy Lifetime Running, “which blends his vast personal experience, interviews with hundreds of top runners and coaches, and the latest scientific studies,” according to the 2018 Festival guide.
The Festival is organized by the South Dakota Humanities Council. It is the largest annual literary event in South Dakota, featuring more than 60 national and regional authors and drawing a crowd of thousands.
