Ryan Carlson graduated from South Dakota State University in 1997 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. While at SDSU, Ryan performed research for Dr. Lew Brown and played with the SDSU Pride and Symphonic Band.
Upon graduation, Ryan joined the world of Contract Manufacturing with Benchmark Electronics in Winona, MN. In this role, he was privileged to be involved in the launch of over 25 new medical and industrial products into the market with varying companies developing functional test solutions. His experiences through these launches provided Ryan with a deep insight into holistic product life-cycles from design through end of life management in addition to team development and leadership skills.
In 2005, Ryan returned to South Dakota in Watertown to join a smaller contract manufacturing company, OEM Worldwide, aiding the development of the company into a strong technical leader in the medical electronics environment. This technical expertise triggered the subsequent purchase of OEM Worldwide by Sparton Corporation, where Ryan led the Engineering team for 2 years before moving into his current Quality and Regulatory Affairs Manager role. Ryan’s mission at Sparton is to continue to provide opportunities to build cutting edge medical and industrial technology in South Dakota.
