Why did you choose to attend SDSU?
The chance to ride on the Equestrian team was a big deciding factor for me. I also really liked the “feel” here at SDSU, and the great network in the College of Ag & Bio.
What has been your most interesting class, and what about it did you enjoy?
That’s a tough choice! There have been several. Intro to Animal Science, Forest Ecology & Management, Woody Plants: Trees, Horse Production: the best experiences I’ve had in classes like these have been in getting out of the classroom for hands-on learning. And, as always, the best professors really make that great class experience.
Who has inspired you the most at SDSU and in what way?
Many of my fellow students in the College of Ag & Bio have been inspiring to me, and not just in academics. They are very involved with programs at SDSU and in the world of Agriculture, and their passion for that way of life (farming/ranching/agriculture) gives them that drive to go out and make a difference in their world.
What is your favorite or most memorable SDSU experience?
The Equestrian team has been a huge part of my college experience. It’s given me the chance to continue something I love while away at college: riding and showing horses. My experiences traveling with the team and competing in an NCAA sport hold some of my favorite college memories, along with my closest friendships in my teammates.
Where do you see yourself in the future/10 years?
I plan on pursing a job in land management, possibly with NRCS (Natural Resource Conservation Service). The land is our greatest resource, and with the ever-growing population we all need to do our part in protecting/preserving it for future generations.
What piece of advice would you give new students?
Get out and get involved – don’t spend all your time in your dorm room with the door closed! College really is the time of your life where you grow and find out who you really are, and make those friendships that last the rest of your life.
