Like our brand new Facebook page specifically for Economics Department alumni to stay up to date on the Economics Department!
Whether you graduated five years ago or fifty years ago, the Department of Economics looks a lot different today than you remember it. Thanks in large part to the Economics and Management Initiative, the department has recently experienced several important changes:
- Additional funding for student enrichment.
- Augmented support for faculty research.
- Revised academic programs, with implementation beginning in the fall of 2012.
- Several new instructors.
- Seeking accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
While these developments have changed the face of the department, our core mission remains the same: building human capital through rigorous programs in economics, agricultural economics, business, agricultural business, and entrepreneurial studies. We are excited for the opportunity to grow as a department and to improve our service to students, stakeholders, and citizens of South Dakota.
We also wish to thank our alumni for your generous contributions to the department and the university through the SDSU Foundation. Many of our students receive scholarships funded in whole or in part from alumni donations of all sizes. Your support is always appreciated.
The Department of Economics has always prided itself on building an open and welcoming environment. Just as faculty doors are always open for our students, you should consider the department’s doors open for alumni. Feel free to contact us, and please remember to keep your alumni information up to date. We look forward to the department’s future, and we hope keep you informed of our progress.
