SBIR/STTR - America's Seed Funds
The SBIR & STTR programs enable eleven federal agencies to make over 5,500 grants and contracts annually to fund develop of innovative products and processes. Each year these programs provide $3B to technology-based small businesses making SBIR/STTR the largest source of equity-free financing in the world.
South Dakota State University is hosting a 2-hour seminar to inform faculty and graduate students about the opportunity SBIR & STTR provide to advance academic research to the market place, thereby growing the nation and South Dakota's economy and creating high-wage jobs for talented graduates.
2 PM - SBIR Overview - Gary Archamboult, South Dakota SBIR Program Director, will present an overview of the SBIR & STTR programs and provide insights to assist forming partnership with industry and preparing competitive SBIR & STTR proposals.
3 PM - NSF I-Corp - Dr. Qiquan Qiao will present an overview of the NSF I-Corp Program, his team, and their current I-Corp project. I-Corp is a funding program that NSF and other federal agencies utilize to help academics determine if their research has commercial potential.
3:15 PM - Dr. Bill Gibbons will present an overview of his experiences with SBIR and how the SDSU Tech Transfer Office can assist faculty with SBIR/STTR applications.
3:30 PM - Dwaine Chapel will provide an overview of physical and mentoring resources available thru SDSU Research Park.
