Junis Oliver Storry was President of the AIEE (now IEEE) while a student at SDSC and went on to earn an M.S. in electrical engineer from SDSC in 1949 and a Ph.D. from Iowa State University in electrical engineering in 1967. He worked for Westinghouse Electric in the graduate engineer training program following his graduation from SDSC and then worked as an Engineer for the Bureau of Ships in the U.S. Navy for four years. Dr. Storry began his career at SDSC as an Instructor in 1946 and advanced to a full Professor. He then served as Dean of Engineering at SDSU from 1972 to 1982 and went on to serve as the Amdahl Distinguished Professor of Engineering in the Electrical Engineering Department at SDSU until 1985. He was a life member of IEEE and ASEE, Chairman of the ASEE Energy Conversion and Conservation Division, member of NSPE and second Vice President of SDES. Dr. Storry did consulting work involving the design for electrical systems for several schools, hospitals, office buildings, armories and others.
