Archie Higdon continued his education after receiving his degree from South Dakota State College to earn both an M.S. and Ph.D. form Iowa State University. Higdon’s career was devoted to education and included service at North Dakota State University, Iowa State University, the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. He retired from the U.S. Air Force Academy as a Brigadier General. Higdon then became dean of engineering and technology at the California Polytechnic State University until his retirement in 1972. Higdon served in many capacities in the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and was a well known author in engineering mechanics.
