Sarah Bad Warrior-Vrooman

Biography

As Wokini Director, Sarah is responsible for facilitating, planning and implementing open dialogue between members of South Dakota Tribes, members of SDSU and other key stakeholders to best serve Tribal constituents, the University, state and region. She provides support for the President’s Wokini Advisory Council, promoting the relationship between tribes and the university, and facilitating the implementation of recommendations from the Council.

Sarah collaborates and partners with the American Indian Student Center, American Indian Studies, colleges and other support areas to identify opportunities to support faculty in scholarship, outreach and engagement with Tribal communities. Through these collaborations Wokini allows SDSU to better support and develop program infrastructure for American Indian student recruitment and retention which includes preserving positive Tribal partnerships and research infrastructure.
