Biography

Joined South Dakota State University in Fall 2017, after teaching physics at Lawrence Tech University, Southfield, MI for three years and a year at my Alma Mater Wayne State University. Grew up in small a village in Nepal before moving to cities for high school and colleges. Now live in Bookings, SD. Photography, travel, reading about history and archeology are my hobbies.

Education

I received my PhD in high energy nuclear physics (theory) from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI in 2013. I did my MS in physics from Bowling Green State University, Bowling OH. I did my earlier college and school education from Nepal.

Academic Interests/Expertise

My area of interest is in the theory and phenomenology of transport properties of matter consisting of quarks and gluons, known as quark-gluon plasma (QGP). QGP is believed to exist moments after Big Bang and before the hadronization started. In a very short space and time scale, it is also created in extremely high energy nuclear collisions, sometimes called 'Little Bangs', of heavy ions in facilities like RHIC in Long Island and at LHC in Europe.

Academic Responsibilities

My responsibility is mostly teaching physics. For Fall 2017, I am teaching PHYS 213, calculus based physics 2 for engineers and scientists.

Specialty Area

  • High Energy Nuclear Physics
