While a native of western South Dakota, I had many opportunities to travel growing up including living in Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska. Nevertheless, South Dakota has been my home for the majority of my adult life. Because of this, my work and personal history reflect relationships built over the years. I am married with one daughter and a bull dog and live in Belle Fourche.

EducationA majority of my education has been acquired through virtual/online formats. My continuing education and certifications continue to be offered in the traditional classroom setting. Because of this, I can understand both content delivery from a student perspective as well as delineate the expectations by the student for each of these forums.
My philosophy of teaching is geared towards learner-centered learning. Students are partners in the learning process and I am the facilitator of information. Embracing learning as a process allows the student to envelop the information and formulate new ideas and thoughts. Embracing learning as a partnership interrupts the notion of autocratic owners of content by the instructor. Rather, the partnership levels the playing field to facilitate engagement, communication, and, most importantly, learning.
