Digital Badges
What is a digital badge?
A digital badge is a digital representation of an individual’s achievements and are designed to be easily shareable and verifiable. Digital badges communicate the following:
- Who earned a badge
- What criteria were met
- Who issued the badge
An open digital badge allows others to see and verify this information. South Dakota State University has partnered with Credly to provide you with a secure and verifiable digital credential that highlights your skills.

Here is an example of what the South Dakota State University digital badges may look like. The shape and color may vary depending upon the type and level of the credential earned.
Credly provides a wealth of information for earners, be sure to check out Credly’s Earner Help Center.
