1098-T Form Information

The 1098-T tax document is provided as documentation of students' qualified tuition and other educational expenses for tax purposes. 1098-Ts are prepared in January for the previous calendar year and sent to students by email or regular mail. Please make sure we have your most recent mailing address on file.

The South Dakota Board of Regents has made current and previous 1098-T forms available through ECSI. If you are trying to access your 1098-T through their website and aren't sure what your Heartland Key is, you may reach ECSI customer service at 866-428-1098.

Students can also access their 1098-T on their MyState Portal dashboard > student billing account self service > student account menu > tax notification > enter tax year.

If you are unable to obtain a copy of your 1098-T through Heartland ECSI's website or your student portal, students may send an email to us at studentbills@sdstate.edu to request a copy.

Note: We cannot generate a 1098-T if we do not have your social security number (SSN) on file. Please complete the W-9s form to provide us with that information.
