LEAD Courses

This partnership between Lake Area Technical College and South Dakota State University aims to meet the educational needs of students and highlight the complementary nature of the programs of both institutions. As defined in the agreement, LATC students who have completed the Associate of Applied Sciences (A.A.S.) in the Law Enforcement major have a tailored opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology at SDSU.

SDSU will accept 60 technical course credits from the A.A.S. degree in Law Enforcement. Coursework requirements include:

System General Education Requirements (SGRs): 15 credits

English 101 Completed at LATC. Written Communication course above the 101 level (3 credits)

CMST 101 to be completed at LATC

PSYC 101 and SOC 100 to be completed at LATC

Humanities and Arts/Diversity: 6 credits from two disciplines or 6 credits in sequence of modern foreign language courses

MATH 103 or MATH 114 to be completed at LATC

6 credits of coursework in the Natural Sciences

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Requirements

  1. Completion of a Modern Foreign Language through the 202 level (0-6 credits)
  2. A minor is satisfied by the completion of LATC A.A.S. degree
  1. Natural Science elective (4 credits)
  2. A minor is satisfied by the completion of LATC A.A.S. degree

Additional Requirements:

  1. Students transferring from Lake Area Technical College must have a cumulative GPA of “C” (2.0 on a 4.0 scale)
  2. At least 33 credits for the degree must be upper-division (300 or higher) courses.
