We welcome the opportunity to assist groups who wish to include a visit to the American Indian Student Center (AISC), while visiting South Dakota State University (SDSU). We recognize that a campus visit is an important first step in the college selection process and can also provide you with suggestions to enhance your campus visit. We urge you to also consider attending SDSU’s Friday Visits - Jackrabbit Preview, Junior Day, Senior Day or if you’re unable to travel to SDSU, Jackrabbit Receptions are a great alternative to an on-campus visit.
If you are interested in scheduling an on-campus visit please contact the SDSU Admissions Office. You have the option to email the Admissions office, call 605-688-4121 or 1-800-952-3541, or submit the online form by clicking on the ‘Schedule my visit’ link.
You must specify that you are an American Indian student or group and/or would like to schedule an AISC tour. The SDSU Admissions office will work with the AISC staff to coordinate the visit and a tour of the facility. You are encouraged to schedule your tour at least two weeks in advance.
SDSU Campus visits and tours are held during normal business hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with the exception of holidays). A typical visit will last approximately 3 hours, but may require additional time to include the AISC component. The AISC presentation may involve presentations that include:
- Icebreaker Activities
- AISC History
- American Indian Student Services overview (including the First Year Experience)
- American Indian Studies overview
- American Indian Student perspectives (student panel or short video)
