General Guidelines

Case Generation Fee: $10.00

Testing fees are subject to a 5% University Fee and state sales taxes where applicable. Cases requiring detailed examinations and culturing, such as insurance cases, will be charged the full sum of individual procedures.

Standard Diagnostic Evaluation Charge:*

  • (South Dakota Clients) $60.00
  • (Out-of-State Clients) $70.00
    • * Fees include several tests (excluding molecular diagnostics and toxicology), such as
      • routine histopathology,
      • 2 special histology stains,
      • up to 2 IHC antigens on up to 2 blocks each
      • 5 aerobic cultures,
      • mammalian virus isolation (VI),
      • fluorescent antibody (FA) testing,
      • 1 CBC
      • 1 chemistry panel
      • parasitology
      • as deemed appropriate by the case coordinator on tissues from 1–3 animals or 1–10 birds/fish with the same disease syndrome from the same animal unit and from which test specimens can be pooled/mixed and reported as a composite.

Disposal Fees:

  • Necropsy and carcass disposal fee per case with Standard Diagnostic Evaluation: $17.00/animal
  • Research animals (necropsy room and render fee): $17.00/animal
  • Incineration charges (without other services): $50 min+$1/lb.
  • SDSU livestock disposal only (necropsy room and render fee): $17.00/animal

NOTE: The ADRDL does not accept animals from the general public for routine disposal. The ADRDL cannot accept any animals for rendering that have been euthanized with a barbiturate.

The ADRDL is an accredited AAVLD laboratory and a member of the USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network. Completing and submitting any submission form or any other means of requesting services creates a contractual agreement for services requested and the specimens submitted become the property of the ADRDL. In addition, at no additional expense to our clients, specimens submitted to the ADRDL may be subjected to additional testing upon the order of state or federal animal health officials, or whenever a Foreign Animal Disease is suspected, or in support of surveillance for other animal diseases.
