The Miller Legacy

Selective highlights from Peggy Miller years as president of South Dakota State University in 1998 to 2006.• Led SDSU through an arduous study that culminated with the school moving to Division I athletics as of the 2004-05 school year.

Diminutive Miller raises stature of SDSU

Former SDSU President Peggy Miller will join a group of nine other people to be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame at ceremonies in Chamberlain Sept. 13-14. Miller, who served as SDSU’s 18th president from Jan. 1, 1998, to Dec. 31, 2006, will become only the third out of the land-grant university’s 20 presidents to be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame, joining Robert Wagner (1998) and Hilton Briggs (1980).

New certificate offers ‘tryout’ for teacher education

The Gateway to Teacher Education undergraduate certificate, approved by the South Dakota Board of Regents in July and available through the state’s public universities starting this fall, offers students across South Dakota an opportunity to explore a career in K-12 teacher education.
