Family Resource Network
To promote the quality care of children through educating, supporting, and connecting the individuals involved in their lives.
The Family Resource Network was established in 1990 as an outreach office at South Dakota State University to provide information and resources for users and providers of child care and their families. Currently, the Family Resource Network is a state and locally supported Early Childhood Enrichment (ECE) program which provides training, education, and resources to adults who are involved in the day-to-day care of children and youth.
A special thank you goes to the presenters and participants for making this year's mini conference fun and informative! The STEM Mini Conference was held on September 19, 2015 in Brookings, SD. 22 participants experienced hands-on, minds-on learning. Drs. Larry Browning and Matt Miller of SDSU Physics and Chemistry Departments had participants moving around, experimenting and asking questions. One presentation demonstrated how soda-straw rocket launchers can be used to help children ask questions and what tools educators can use with children to measure the distance traveled. Another presentation demonstrated through a series of hands-on experiments how hardware store supplies and kitchen ingredients can help children learn about chemical reactions.
