Student Technology Fellows

Wanted: people with skills

Were you the one teachers looked to for help with the Smart Board in high school? Do you work with web pages in your spare time? Have you ever spent a Saturday night reading up on new technologies? If so, you should consider applying for the Student Technology Fellowship program at SDSU. Why? Because you can turn that knowledge into a good-paying job, or even a career.

The STF program is designed so you can develop your interest in technology while doing real-world projects, some of which include:

  • Assisting faculty to incorporate technology into their classes, including the creation and preparation of D2L courses
  • Responding to questions and resolving issues related to software and hardware support
  • Developing University web pages and applications
  • Supporting technology-enhanced classrooms, as well as distance education classes

The fact that this looks great on a resume isn't the only benefit. You also get paid the equivalent of 32 credit hours of tuition and fees for the academic year. Basically, you'll just pay your tuition and fees upfront like other students, and while you are in the program you will receive a monthly check for the hours you worked.

And don't think you have to have time under your belt at SDSU to get in the program. We encourage freshmen to apply to be an STF because it is a great way to jumpstart your career and meet new people across campus.

Eligibility requirements:

Students of all majors can apply. Other requirements are to:

  • Be an undergraduate resident of South Dakota
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Complete 32 credits per academic year (Fall/Spring/Summer)
  • Work 165 hours per semester (includes meetings, training, and assigned jobs/projects)
  • Complete all program participation requirements, receive positive performance appraisals, and meet development standards
  • Serve a maximum of eight semesters

Because the program is funded by South Dakota taxpayers, students must be South Dakota residents. If you are not a resident but interested in working with technology, check out our other student employment opportunities.

We are not accepting applications at this time, as all positions have been filled.

Thank You.
