Classroom Repair Technicians

Classroom Repair Technicians are responsible for the installation, setup, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of technology-enhanced classrooms. Duties include: installing software and hardware components, diagnosing and repairing computer problems, and maintaining an accurate inventory of computer systems. Technicians work an average of 10 hours per week.

Computer Lab Monitors

Lab Monitors work in general access computer labs assisting students with basic software and troubleshooting. Other duties include: providing routine maintenance, cleaning, and recording usage statistics, as well as submitting HEAT tickets for more difficult problems and researching answers to student questions. Candidates must be friendly, able to problem-solve quickly, and communicate well with others. Monitors work an average of 10 hours per week. 

Equipment Loan Technicians

Equipment Loan Technicians schedule, transport, and maintain loaner audio/visual equipment and provide assistance with the equipment in classrooms. Other duties include: inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining A/V equipment and installing replacement hard drives or backup computers when needed. Because transportation is required, candidates must have a clean driving record and current driver's license. Technicians work an average of 10 hours per week.  

eSDSU Laptop Repair Technicians

Technicians work in the eSDSU Laptop Center to assist students with laptop questions and troubleshooting. Other duties include: setting up and installing campus wireless systems, operating systems, software and hardware, troubleshooting and repairing software and hardware problems, removing spyware and viruses, and answering questions about technology. Technicians must have at least six months of experience working with technology, excellent communication skills, and work an average of 10 hours per week.

Lab Repair Services Technicians

Lab Repair Services Technicians are responsible for the installation, setup, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of lab computers. Other duties include: installing and maintaining software to prevent harmful file installation and software to track use (Lab Stats), as well as keeping an accurate inventory of computer systems. Technicians work an average of 12 hours per week.

Repair Center Technicians

Repair Center Technicians are available to diagnose and repair hardware or software malfunctions on computers. Additional duties include: putting up new equipment (including printers and scanners), setting up new users on the JACKS network, and assisting staff and faculty with computer questions. Technicians work an average of 10 hours per week.

ResNet Technicians

The ResNet Technician is responsible for providing on-site internet access and computer support to students in residence halls. Each hall has a ResNet Technician that is available a minimum of 10 hours per week. Duties include: connecting students to ResNet internet services, providing software and limited hardware support, and keeping regular office hours.

Support Desk Consultants and Technicians

Support Desk Consultants and Technicians are the first point of contact for students and faculty to report technology issues and request support for hardware, software, and campus-based services. Duties include: installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software (Cisco NAC, antivirus, wireless, Outlook, etc.), removing viruses, resetting passwords, assisting with course-management software, processing equipment loan requests, troubleshooting and repairing hardware (where able), and reporting TEC equipment malfunctions. Candidates should be friendly, possess problem-solving skills, and communicate effectively. Consultants and technicians work an average of 12 hours per week.
