Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences Curriculum

Program Description

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers courses and research opportunities in pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and other biomedical sciences to fulfill the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in pharmaceutical sciences. Core courses, along with a concentration in a major area of research provides the student with a broad multidisciplinary background in pharmaceutical sciences for industrial, academic, regulatory or other related careers. The major goal of the program is to provide the student an opportunity to gain high-quality graduate education and research experience. The students also get opportunities in teaching, grant writing and other professional developmental activities.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon satisfactory completion of the degree requirements, graduates of this program should be able to:

  1. Integrate and apply knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences to problems in drug discovery and development.
  2. Conduct research with skill and competence, including hypothesis development, experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.
  3. Critically evaluate scientific literature and analyze contemporary scientific issues.
  4. Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms to a wide range of audiences.
  5. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct.
