The College of Pharmacy has a wonderful history dating back to its establishment in 1887. Today, we are recognized for our excellence in preparing students to provide high quality patient-centered and population-based pharmacist care via the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program. We also offer a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate program, which provides a valuable broad background of preparation for an academic or industrial career.
In addition to a strong reputation for academic excellence, the College also has an enviable record for research and service. Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty are working on projects in search of improved methods to identify, prevent, and cure disease. Pharmacy Practice faculty members are working as members of health care teams, taking care of patients by advising them in the best use of medications, and serving as a resource to physicians and other prescribers.
In 2010, we will move into a state-of-the-art building, the Avera Health and Science Center. The College’s mission will be enhanced by the 97,000-square-feet of teaching laboratory, classroom, and office space being constructed. The project also includes the renovation of Shepard Hall (48,600 square-feet) for research laboratory use.
On behalf of the faculty, staff and students at the South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, please accept our sincere welcome.
